I have recently bought a second hand 307 from a local dealership.

The car has over 200 000 on the clock but runs like a beauty, until the other day.

I was sitting in traffic and after an hour of stop go the revs became low and it cut out and then started up again only to cut out 10 metres further up, this time an error message saying "oil pressure too low" came on the screen and i couldn't get it started for another hour.

i topped up the oil (thinking this was the case) even though my oil was at least 2/3 full, and we were on the road again.

the next morning pulling out my driveway it shuddered a bit and then cut out again, this time the error message read "anti-pollution faulty"

I sent it back to the dealership who ran a diagnostic test on a Bosch machine and it came back with no errors.

Not happy, i took it to a certified french car mechanic who ran it on 6 different machines, nothing, took it for a drive and ran it again, and once again no electrical issues.

He checked the rest of the car and couldn't find anything.

Cleaned out the idle valve sensor in the (plastic) throttle body, which he said wasn't bad but would do it anyway.

Now the car hasn't cut out again, given iv only had it back a week and the first time it cut out was after i drove every day for 7 weeks, so it can really happen at any point.

Because they couldn't find the cause of the problem, I'm worried it will happen again.

Has anyone had a similar experience and found out the root of the problem? or know what it may be?

Im still really young and being a female i am petrified of being stranded on the side of the road alone. :(

The best diagnostic equipment to use is Peugeot Planet, so if your mechanics have access to this, then insist on them using it.

The "anti-pollution" message unfortunately doesn't refer to a specific fault with the car - it's a generic error message intended to get the driver to have the car looked at by Peugeot.

If you were in stop-start traffic, it could be that the engine temperature was too high, and that's why it cut out.

Areas to look at are coolant level, oil level, thermostat, temp sensors, signs of leakage.
