Thanks for your reply. On the brake switch bracket, there isn't another hole to mount another switch.

Yep - you're correct and I was wrong

Been out and checked mine and there is only one switch. I had to buy a switch when I put cruise on mine, forgot it was because the original switch was faulty, had it in my head it was simply for the cruise control.

The switch on mine has 4 wires going to it.....

Red
White

The other wires look like

Blue / White
Red / Black

Had a quick look at mine and I can't see anything identifying the connectors on the BSI or ECU.

I haven't checked any wires yet as everything I do on my car has to be done in the road and to be honest, it's a bit too cold for me to be messing about with something as important and integral to the car in case I mess something up.

If I get the opportunity I'll try and check when I'm at work and the car is nice and safe in a quiet car park.

in the mean time i have found out what i needed to know, the pin i was looking for is the E4 in the Black connector.

As regards to the BSI, from looking at the circuit diagrams, am I correct in saying that the other wire is taken from PIN 9 on the RED connector that I have highlighted on the photo?

BSI is behind the glovebox, Engine ecu is near the battery (I think)

So if I understand right, not that I am well up on wiring please try not to laugh too hard !

If I run a wire from pin E4 on the ecu to pin 2 on the brake switch then run a wire from pin 1 on the brake switch to pin 9 on the bsi unit am I right ??

If your ECU is a Siemens SID801 then that is what's required.

Thanks for the diagrams, I think they are the same as the ones I found.
Am I right in saying that at least one of the wires I can take from the clutch switch that comes from the BSI?

Also I'm in need of a pin-out of my Bosch EDC15C2 Diesel ECU so I can connect the second wire to I think pin 73 as the diagram shows.

The info on the site is good when you find it. Took me a while to spot the link to the electrical diagrams.

The schematics on that site come up a lot quicker than Sedre on my laptop - plus they are probably easier to copy as the ones on Sedre can only be saved as .svg files.

These are the wiring diagrams I have found.

First image is for a SID801 control Unit
2nd is for an EDC15C2 control Unit
3rd is for other control units.

The unit labelled 1320 is the engine ECU, 7308 is the cruise control brake switch and the other unit is the BSI. The wire from the BSI is an ignition controlled switched live.

Don't quite know why the EDC15C2 image came out like it did but the necessary information is visible.

Had a look in the Haynes manual but that only shows a two wire brake switch. Will have a look in sedre to see if it shows where the wires go

A 2004 model needs another switch on the brake for cruise control. No need to touch the clutch pedal switch.
