I'd arranged to head over to Cheshire on Friday to take a look at a 307 XSI when the seller rang to cancel.

He said that as he'd gone to move the car the coil spring had broke and gone straight through the tyre.

He went on to say how it seems to be a more common thing.

I've had 307s for years and been a regular to this forum, and I can't say I've ever heard a report of this before.

Anyone any wiser?

springs do fail, and more often than in the past.
There was a recall on Citroen C3s to fit a cup around the bottom of the spring to retain it following a failure, dunno if that crossed to any Pugs tho.

It ain't a common pug problem, if it was a vauxhall I wouldn't have been surprised at all.

Mine failed the MOT a couple of years ago because of a broken spring on the rear, But i think that was down to me towing a car trailer with a ferrari on it that turned out to be not strapped properly, the ferrari rolled forward and the back of the 307 hit the deck.. probably weakened the spring
