Any suggestion for my girlfriend, when at traffic lights, her car is slow at take off, take a while bring up speed. Car is been regular serviced, air filters replaced etc. Any suggestion, this is a automatic 1.6 petrol.

you may find its the torque converter their like a clutch and slip to build
momentum there is a test for them but cant remember at the moment
been a while since i had one:nod:

You don't say how long she's had it or if the power has suddenly disappeared or just gone down over time. The 1.6 Auto isn't particularly a whippet at the lights: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/summary.aspx?model=669
let me just say you may very well be right has we cant see the motor but
the torque converter is independant of the gear box and provides an initial
low gearing (slip) to help get away and mostly hill starts.;)
