Hi everyone,

I'm having problems with my 306. Intermittent problems. It seems there are some electrical problems and I can't figure out what is wrong. Sometimes I can't start the car and it takes quite a time to start it. Sometimes I start the car and the engine runs fine, I then switch the lights on and everything dies. This has also happened when I have put the back window defroster on and even one when I put the emergency indicators on driving on the motorway. Also, when the car doesn't want to start, the radio's face off mechanism seems to go up and down (it's a mechanical sliding mechanism)

Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas?

Thanks.

altinator test

Sorry for being a bit silly on this one, but, how do I test the alternator?

I took the car into kwikfit and they said the alternator was fine.

I have been surfing the net a bit more now and I have found scenarios that are exactly what I am experiencing. It would seem that there is a issue with the crank sensor. It is an intermittent thing and has occurred in a few older Peugeot models. The part apparently costs around £15 and is easy to replace.

I will get the sensor replaced and post in the chat if it fixed the problem.
