Hi There,

I am struggling with an electrical problem. My 306 (1994 1.4) headlights do not work on dip beam. The bulbs work on main beam and the side lights work however on dip beam there is simply no joy.

I have checked the the relays and I have checked the switch in the stalk and I have checked the bulbs. There is a voltage across the dip beam bulb socket when I turn them on but the bulbs do not work, I cannot figure this out.

Does anyone have any further suggestions?

Any constructive comments would be greatly appreciated.

Solved

OK guys so finally solved this one.

The resistor on the circuit (which is located clipped to the body next to the relay box under the bonet) had over heated causing the socket to melt. I cleaned off the melted plastic and reconnected it and it works again. :)

The connection is not perfect but it'll do for now.

Apparently this is a common problem with the 306.

Best part is i took one out of a car at the scrappy and asked the guy how much, because he had no idea what it was or does i got it for nothing!! :D
