Hi, I have a problem with my 306 HDI. When accelerating, between 1500-2000 rpm, it seems to misfire, causing it to be jerky. Anybody goy any ideas ?

Get your engine ecu read. Post up faults and maybe they can be of help.

When was the car last serviced ?

What was the fuel tank like when it happened, was it full/half full/nearly empty

Where do you fill up your diesel/petrol at?

simple measures can fix, let us know so I can suggest you how to cure it.

Cant remember how much fuel was in the car when it started happening, (about 3 weeks ago). I don't fill up anywhere in particular, just the nearest station when fuel required. I did have a new low pressure fuel pump fitted about a week before. Also, whilst trying to cure the problem I have fitted, new fuel filter, new air filter, and replacement airflow mass meter.

Nothing sticks out from what you've described. does the engine management ligt come on?

just wondering titch 306 have you solved the problem coz i have the same problem and i have been told my mechanics that it is the egr valve but still quite confused!

Doesn't the EGR valve control boost? In which case if it had gone, then it probably would do exactly what its doing

Wow am I ever wrong, lol.

Exhaust Gas Recirculator - I suppose in that case it probably is linked to boost but mainly looks like to control emissions. Again yeah it makes sense and could cause the misfiring you're on about

Hi Ziggy.
No, I have still not solved the problem. I have tried unplugging the EGR, as suggested on another forum, but it made no difference. At this time I am still completely baffled.

My Dad has a Rover 75 CDTi. On the MG/Rover forum They recommend removing the EGR, and fitting an EGR bypass which you can purchase on Ebay, or Diesel tuning specialists.
