Hi all

I am going on a long journey and want to make sure the car is properly serviced and ready to go, I just had a full service on it and I done my research on the timing chain problem on these thp engines. How do I go about checking the chain, and if it's already been replaced or not? I am at 74k and the engine feels like it's running great still but I get the depollution system faulty come up on several occasions. This time I won't erase the fault code - p0299 is coming up. Full throttle on motorway and this error came up. Usually when I hammer it this fault shows on the dash. It put the car on limp mode but after I restarted the engine it was driving normal with the fault still there. So now I am getting the car checked out tomorrow, while they have a look at it what can I say to them to check out if there is any indication the chain is coming to the end of its life? Don't want the worry about the chain when I am out travelling.

Thanks.
