Hi all,

2010 207 SW HDI

I have noticed that when I apply the brakes there is a distinct squeak from the rear. To be clear this is not squeeling brakes because I am stationary when I hear it. It is obviously some point in the linkage or mechanism in the rear.

Just wondered if anyone knew about this before I start tearing it apart to search the back end?

P.S. the rear has drums not discs.

How is brake fluid level? Have you checked it? Could be a good point to start if some sort of leak is causing the noise.

Sounds like rear brakes require a service, not familiar with 207's but brakes generally, particularly drums suffer greatly from brake dust getting into the mechanisms and seizing/partially seizing them, probably a good clean will sort it out.

Check your handbrake cables they can creak/squeak (as they get old and outer sheath hardens/rusts) as the axle moves when braking
