Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. I apologise in advance if this is the wrong section to post in.

My friend has brought a 207 1.4 petrol 16v sport on a 2007plate. It's covered 62k miles. The head gasket needed replacing and that been fixed.

He now has two problems.

He gets a message on the display (above the radio) after 10 minutes of driving saying oil pressure low. It appears for only 1 second then goes off.
The red oil can on the dash doesn't come on though when this happens.

He's replaced the oil pressure switch but the warning message still appears.


Second problem is, he has a oil leak that seems to be coming from the aux belt area. I'll try and upload a picture. I told him to place some cardboard under the engine to give me an idea on were it's coming from. I haven't had the chance to put it on some ramps yet until the weekend. Anybody know we're the leak looks like it's coming from.

Also because there's a leak some were could the low oil pressure message be caused by the oil leak?

I've tried adding image attachment, hope you can see.

I'm glad you mentioned crankshaft seal. because I told him it looks like that.

but look close at the rocker cover gasket, its recomended to use a little liquid gasket in a few corners when fitting because its a weak point for leaks.

I do remember seeing some sealant on the rocker covers when I changed his spark plugs the weekend. There is a
good chance it's that because I didn't like the look of the way the garage done it. There was hardly any and it did look oily tbh. Is there 2 rocker covers on this engine? With the coil pack separating them? If that makes sense.

Thanks for the reply and the advice. He's dropping the car off tonight to I can clean all the oil off and see were it's coming from in the morning.

there are 4 plug 'o' rings, 2 pillar 'o' rings and main gasket,

check chain side gasket corners and where the cover dips down in the middle.

Just had a quick look before I get it on the ramps tomorrow. But it seems
To be leaking engine oil on the aircon compressor and the sump looks wet..

The auxiliary belt and pulleys looks fine and dry so it seems to be lower down.

My bets on either the crankshaft seal or the sump seal


Well find out tomorrow

Oils leaking behind the crankshaft. So I guess it's the seal. Would this be the rear crankshaft? The one that's drives the alternator?

Is it a case of taking the belt off.
Undoing the crankshaft big bolt then the pulley will come off. Then the seal is behind? Get the oil seal out and tap a new seal in?

Then reverse the above to put back together
