Hi,

I've recently bought a 1.4 207 petrol sport 2007. Everything was fine in the test drive etc and did the usual buyers checks.

The next morning I went to drive to work, got 50 metres down the road before the engine management light came on and started limping. If you turn the car off and on you can go 50m at a time before the limping comes back.

I've called breakdown out and get the code P1160 to which I can't see anything conclusive online for. Other than these I cannot see any other symptoms. Coolant and oil levels correct etc. When you turn the car on the EM light is initially there for 30 seconds if you remain stationary and goes off. Then comes back within a 50m drive. The breakdown guy cleared it for me and I managed to go a good mile to test it without fault.

Obviously I can't just keep clearing the fault if there is an underlying problem? Before I go to a garage and pay for the diagnostics check, probably to just get the same code and nothing else, any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the reply, I did expect that as an answer; just thought I'd ask in case someone may have had similar.

Before a full diagnostic I've dug around a bit more and re-run the scanner app. It shows the code as being an intake manifold - leak detected. I've had a look around this area and on removing the engine cover I've immediately see something suspicious! Breather tube snapped in half and taped up. New one ordered and should be fitting it next week - does anyone believe this would be the main cause of the problems?
