Hello.

I have a 207 1.6 GT. It's a non runner as it won't turn over. Dash all lights up as normal but that's as far as it gets.

I ran peugeot planet and have seen that the key appears to have become unassigned. So that's one problem...

It flashes up the usual depollution faulty error also.

The other thing I noticed on play et was it's saying the ecu is locked? Does this parameter change when the key is back in use? Or has it locked itself and needs unlocking?

If it needs unlocking then how would this be done please? It says the ecu and bsi are matched, but just trying to work out what else needs doing.

BOTH problems are the same problem if you recode the key the ecu will show unlocked when ignition is on and the engine should then start.

Was the battery flat or removed improperly ?

I picked it up as a non runner. On the basis that it didn't start basically.

So not sure what happened to it before. But it did have a new battery put on as the old one didn't seem very good. Could have gone flat etc.

Would it flash up depollution fault for an ecu error as it's usually a very generic error message?

It was reading as no connection to the injection/ignition also. So I assume that's because the key losing its code isn't allowing that part to communicate...?

Depollution fault could be anything you need to get it running first to see whats up

If ecu is locked it wont get comms

Good to know as it's kind of the line I was thinking that it wouldn't communicate with everything if the key was working.

When I got it the key turns and the dash lights up as normal and then just nothing when it's turned to start it.

As reliable says, if the BSI has lost the key data then it won't unlock the ECU but that wouldn't stop it turning the engine over. The starter would still operate but it wouldn't fire. Could be a faulty starter, bad earth or bad feed to the starter from the battery if the engine doesn't turn over.

Programming the key using the security code should allow the ecu to be unlocked though.

There was about 6 faults found on the bsi section. One of them, I forget how it was worded exactly, but was along the lines of no starter signal received? As said, not sure on the exact wording.

Is that not related to the key not firing up the right things to give it the go ahead to fire the starter?

I will also have a look at the starter wiring and see if the starter engages with a 12v feed to it.

If the engine ecu does not power up and communicate with BSI engine will not turn over on prince powered cars. I found this when having issues with the daughters old 207 when trying to sort temp sensor fault.

The key being coded does not affect cranking so you have a problem elsewhere
