Hi

I've had my 207 1.6 HDi (9bhp) now for a couple of weeks, it is a 58 reg with 73k on the clock. when i drove away from the dealer the tank was bone dry, so filled it up and straight of the bat the anti pollution fault lit up, then on the way home noticed that there wasn't any power in the engine. What was happening was that on any incline the speed would drop along with the revs, even with the peddle to the floor.

I had a look around this forum and noticed the easy win of replacing the fuel and air filters, did that and the alarm when out. It was then that i noticed that the engine would not rev above 3k, I gave it a good rev and it went up to just over 4k, but it spluttered a bit. Still no power.

I tested the engine on quite a steep hill with the national speed limit, and it would hardly get above 45mph; the MIL didn't appear until I was on the motorway the following day.

Any ideas what might be the problem, so I can challenge the dealer who said that the car was a good runner!

I took the car back to the dealer, and to give him credit there was only a short debate.

We took the car to his garage, they did the diagnostics and it was booked in for a new EGR valve and sensor. Not only that but we noticed a rattle which turned out to be the Turbo. So yes a 1.6 HDI 90bhp Sport has a turbo.

I left it with them and picked it up later in the week, and it's like a new car.
