As per title, do these need greasing, and if so what's recommended? Guess it doesn't need to be anything high speed/high temp, like a wheel-bearing grease.

The ones I put on the old smoker went in dry, ahem ;), and seemed to be making noise not very long into their life. Although that could also be due to a combination of the cheapness of the parts used and the abuse the poor thing got.

Probably doing them this weekend so I could do with some guidance if someone would be so kind.

Standard multi purpose grease will be fine

If they are stiff, replace. They are quite cheap, and you would have to take the strut out anyway, might as well put new ones in and forget about them for a long time.

Ah. To clarify, I mean when putting in new bearings.

I'll see what I've got, grease-wise, in the garage, tonight.

Cheers, Jim
