W reg 206. The radio, standard fitted, won't turn off! No sound, no way of changing channel or turning off! Worried it will drain battery. Display stays lit up even when key is out of the ignition. Concerned girl who knows not a lot about cars and audio - any suggestions?::confused:

radio problem??

Could either be a wiring loom fault or a stereo fault. Normally peugeots after a certain reg have a stand buy mode where if you are listening to the stereo without the engine running and with just the ignition on it will turn the power off after 30 mins to conserve battery power.
You have to re-start the engine then to listen toit again. Try leaving it for 30 mins and see if this works. If not you are best off at a local garage or peugeot specialist to get it checked out. Dealer obviously most experienced but lot more expensive and may not be worth paying the extra money for the age of your car.

Hope this helps

re above

ps. Further to above. If you are really worried about the battery thing and nothing seems to be working you could check our handbook for the number of the fuse that relates to the stereo-- and pull the fuse until you can get it checked.

pps. its not like you are gonna miss the music is it??? as its not working anyway for sound!! haha

 HEY I have exactly the same problem also on a W reg 206. Just the standard radio cassette and all of a sudden it started draining the battery. I have removed the radio fuse so at least the car may be driven and battery not drain but I'm not sure what to do now. I was thinking of pulling the radio out to see if the wiring/connector behind looked ok but I think you need a special tool? There are two holes in the radio fascia. Do you need a special key to remove the radio or will coat hanger wire suffice? Can someone advise please? Many thanks for advice.

To Get My 206 Standard Radio I Used A Coat Hanger Which I Cut In Half, Pushed Them Down The Holes And It Will Pop Straight Out.

Let Us Know How You Get On With This Problem You Have.
