Hi,

Problem as follows - Peugeot 206 SW Verve HDi (06 Plate).

Central Display (Radio , Clock etc) failed recently ,
so natually assumed it was the bulbs.

In failing light I could see some evidence that the display
was still working.

Bought and fitted new bulbs (3 behind the console).

Initially the display returned but faded within 2 minutes !!!!.

As I was trying to set the date /time the brightness of
the display just deteriorated.

Don't understand this at all. Any help appreciated.

Hi Gerry,

It sounds to me all the world as though you have a basically defective LCD display. the gels used in such displays tend to lose their luminosity over a large period of time as a matter of course but yours may just have experienced a case of premature ageing.

I would almost tend to suggest nipping down to a scrappers and pulling a similar unit from another car and try that. you should see a result.

Cheers Mate.

Was given the wrong bulbs. Got the right ones stripped it down,
put it back together and is now working.
