Hola from Spain!

First post, we have a 206 1.9 D 3 door hatch. Problem is after starting the revs are normal, around 800 rpm, drive away as normal, then when idling the revs rise to 1200 rpm or so.
Is there an easy fix for this? Can anyone help with a step by step instruction as I don't (yet) have a manual (working on that)
This is our first Pug and it is a real joy to drive, especially up in the mountains where we live.

Regards

Jon

Hola,

It sounds as if any sort of cold temperature compendation has been removed from the engine and the engine set up to idle when cold. The injector pumps have a link to the thermostat housing usually through a cable. This allows the set point on the injector pumps to be slightly higher when the engine is cold, then bring it back when the engine is warm. It sounds as if this link is missing or broken.

Hope this helps.

For anyone that is interested, I found the problem to be a loose throttle linkage, the main pivot point on top of the engine was only finger tight and the linkage was not returning to correct position. Tightened up and all was well, even able to adjust the RPM when hot to around 850 and no problems when starting.
Have to ask though, what is the point of the damped plunger affair that the throttle linkage butts onto when returning to idle position?

Cheers

Jon
