Good evening all, apologies if this has been covered before but I could not find a thread. The fan kicked in after about 2 minutes driving tonight and stayed on for the full 20 minute journey and approx 8 minutes after the engine was switched off. The temperature averaged 80 degrees and the engine is not low on coolant. The car is used mainly for short journeys school run shopping etc.

Can anyone please let me know if this is a well known issue and if there are any sensors/relays that I can check and if so the locations of them.

Many thanks for any helped or advice offered.

Andrew

Hope I am not going to misinform you! I saw an article a few months back that in Professional Motor Mechanic magazine that talked about a similar issue but when I tried to search for it just now on their website my PC collected a virus so don't go there.
From memory it was the coolant ecu located on the top of the radiator overheating and the cure was to drill a series of 8mm holes in its casing to cool it.
