hi a mate of my has a problem with his car that accured today.
clutch cable has snapped, i changed clutches before about 3 of them, but never had to change the cables before. is this a pain to do. how long of a job is it. how much would it cost if he took it to a garage.

If you've done clutches then this is simple for you. The cable just basically hooks over the top of the pedal. Unfortunately the is a little clip on top of the pedal to stop the cable flicking off, so you really need to take the pivot bolt for the clutch pedal out so you can pull it forward an inch or two. Threading the cable through the bulkhead is fiddly because it's a tight squeeze. Once you've fitted the pedal end the gearbox end is simple, just push through guide hole and pull firmly on the end of the cable and you can slot it into the arm. By the way, make sure it is the cable that's broken and not the clutch arm! Time? half-hour---1 hour. Garage would probably charge £30 -£60 depending how busy they were!
