Hi,

I've recently experienced the rear light fault caused by burnt out earth on my 2006 2.0 HDI (136). I've procrastinated a while (about 6 months) before fixing it. In the last days before I fixed it, the engine started to intermittently work only on 3 cylinders (could not observe any pattern on when this happened).

Thinking (or more hoping) this 2 problems were related, I fixed the earth problem 2 days ago. The engine worked normally for a while, but it started the 3 cylinder routine again today. Restarting the engine helps sometimes, sometimes makes no difference. I've also noticed that sometimes the acceleration is not smooth - when accelerating, the engine "kicks" once in a while. Today, after a couple of this "kicks", the engine started to operate on 3 cylinders and the symbol, which I cannot find in the manual, appeared on the dashboard: A triangle with an exclamation mark, and below it a speedometer.

My OBD2 scanner gives me code P0203, Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinder 3.

- Has anyone had similar issue before?
- Which one is cylinder 3? (counting from left or right?)
- Are there any tests I can do to determine if it is a wiring problem or the injector fault?

Please assume I have (almost) zero mechanical knowledge.. Thank you!

No 1 is flywheel end most likely wiring is shorting or the plug is loose

No3 injector is circled. Wiring is off here as I was about to remove the rocker cover to fix a bad oil leak.

Check the wiring to the injector for breaks/short circuit. Check inside the plug for possible corrosion/broken pins.

If the injector is loose, you will most likely have a large pooling of oily muck around the base of the injector
