Hello, my turbo may have gone on my car and the bloke at the garage has said that it might need to be replaced, I have been looking on different websites for new/ recon turbos but they have codes and I don't fully know what's me is? Can anybody help me please either on the code or the best places to get them from?

You need it off to get the code as there are many versions some interchange some dont

If you have no boost and no oil smoke at rear its unlikely to be your turbo though whats your symptoms

Your turbo MAY have gone is what he's saying. Are you going to buy one based on this ''mechanic'' who thinks it MAY be gone. Walk away. Get someone else to look at it, preferably someone whos sure about what they're doing.

Thanks reliable406 for getting back to me, I have an anti pollusion light, I had it on peugeot planet and it has said the turbo has low pressure and is a permanent fault, there is no power and no black smoke coming out the exhaust,

Get the said mechanic to check the vacuum circuit before he culls the turbo. The turbo control solenoids give trouble. Maybe swop the egr control solenoid with the turbo one and see if the power comes back. The solenoids are all the same.

He said he has to take a pipe of and see if he can spin it by hand to see if its broke, he does specialise in peugeots and citreons though? Should I still get it checked out by another mechanic?

Sure let him check that. Its very rare for the turbo in the 2.0hdi to fail unless there was no service history whatsoever and was neglected until it died.

I have just had a new turbo solenoid put on the car and I know he was doing some tests to see if there was vacum through the pipes.

Your turbo is fine your fault is in the control of the turbo

He should have checked the vacum before even replacing anything !

I'm going to have to ring him tomorrow and find out what the fault is and try and try give him a few things to look at, thanks for all all the help :)

The mechanic has cleaned out the dpf filter and stuck it back on the car, on start up there is loads of black smoke, is this normal? Has said he has had to put a new sensor that is located at the back of the battery but I can't remember what it is called, and then I still don't know if it will come out of limp mode? Any help?

Is it the differential pressure sensor?

What does diagnostic say now?
Black smoke is unburned diesel. Disconnect the airflow meter and see if it clears the smoke.

I haven't had chance to put it back on planet yet but will let you know as soon as I do, where is the airflow meter located?
