Caught a kerb today and damaged the rim slightly and will go to tyre fitter tomorrow to check if the tyre is OK for a start. Been on line and shocked at Continental Contisport Contact 3 225/45R17 94W as fitted are, first time I have had these on a car think they called low profile. The normal tyres on cars previously would not have had damage caused by what I did today, anyway done now got to move on.
Putting my Reg. number in got me same tyre but V91 Speed/load does it matter if I use 94W or 91V? on my Jan. 2011 308SW Sport?

Buying a new alloy from Peugeot have you ever done it, please scare me to death with price you paid please? Think they 17" Rinjani from looking at a brochure.
Any idea of price level a car breaker would ask?

the speed rating must match the other tyre on the axle and spec for you car, think you will get trouble at mot time if you mix them.
MOT not a problem as 2 years away and by then might well be sensible to change them for that. Should your thought though be correct if my tyre does need replacing now I will ensure same fitted speed/load fitted.

The wheel can be repaired at a specialist if within parameters so don't panic too soon.
Yes I do believe they can and was expecting the tyre fitter will be able to point me to someone.
As the car does not have the usual steel spare I have previously been thinking of having a spare Alloy (or even a steel) in my garage. Like in this case had I had one could have put it on and dropped this off at a repairer and kept mobile.

Betty only had car a month and and even though it was something like £8K drop in price since new it still a lot of money to spend and I'm a bit cross at myself with a potential tyre right off and repair to wheel.

If the model you have quoted is the correct one, they are £209 each from Peugeot.

Back to speed rating.... as already said, don't go mixing, just put back on exact same rating as came off. Any tyre shop that knows what they are doing would do this as a matter of course, and should question you why you want to alter from that.

You must have hit the kerb pretty hard to be thinking that the tyre is damaged, and wheel beyond repair :nod:

Was at a petrol station I mounted the island the pumps on it had a steel rim, was only just moving but forced into a tight turn by a driver who had not a minute to spare. Tyre is not loosing air but a very slight cut and I think the fitter will not like it from legal and safety point of view.
I'm used to using Michelin tyres at £100 each but looks as if these Continental ones will be £150 I had thought Michelin where the sort of top price brand.
The wheel as a slight chip but the experts will have to say if cracked when tyre is off I guess. If cosmetic I either leave it or pay £50 'ish for a repair.

You've had it very good to be getting Michelins for £100 ish.... £150 for low profile isn't bad either. Even low-end tyres on my 407 are £100-£120 each and they aren't anything special (215/55/17 94W)

And if you didn't put Continental on, you could get low profile tyres for a lot closer to £100 too :nod:
