Hi - I have 106 GTI, which has a slight misfire and runs lumpy on idle seems to rev up ok and drives fine if i drive it slow and steady (which is not why we buy these cars) but if i put it under load and go over 4000rpm then the next time i go to put my clucth down the car will cut out it will then start straight away after if i turn the key a couple of times igniton on off on off almost like i have to reset the icv...

parts replced: spark plugs, coilpack, idle control valve, lamda sensor, coolant temp sensor, purge solonid valve, air intake temp sensor, throttle posistion sensor ive also cleaned out the throttle body and checked all connections all seem ok any ideas as im runnin out of patience with this car as i have spent alot of hours and money on it however i can guess my next cause of action would be to replace map sensor but dont just want to keep throwing money at it ive unplugged the map sensor to see if it made a difference and it did so im guessing thats working alright although havent done a proper check on it just wondered if anyone has had a similar issue and coud point me in the right direction..cheers

When I had a similar issue - running lumpy and getting to 4krpm was like hitting a soft cut limiter - it turned out to be coolant had been dripping from a leaky thermostat housing onto the crank sensor directly below. Its worth checking out the crank sensor and its wiring are in good condition.

Maybe worth seeing if you have someone with Peugeot Planet nearby to see if its pinged up any fault codes.
