Hi, I have a 2011 1.6 expert, she was sitting for a couple of weeks whilst I was off work. Went to start it and it wouldn't, showed the message 'water in diesel filter' on dash . The recovery mechanic said it may be blocked so i fitted a new filter myself the day after. primed it correctly (I hope)disconnected the fuel hose on the last injector and bled about a pint through, but still not starting! The battery went flat with me trying to start her so I have another connected in the footwell, plenty of battery power!!
I have tried both keys
And Easy start

Any ideas what to try or test next?

DO NOT bleed modern diesels like that they bleed themselves.

Water in filter message would not stop starting as the fuel in the pump would be ready to go.

Do the beep test and charge the battery fully before trying again.

If it fails the beep test it WILL NOT START.

Thanks for reply, I tried the beep test and the battery is good,
I have a brand new 110ah battery connected with heavy duty leads,
The van beeps away when the door is opened.
I tried disconnecting the battery for a while thought it may re-set something but still the same..

As above you are not bleeding the system correctly, the fuel system needs to be sealed and then pump the primer bulb until hard.

Then try starting if still no good get someone to pump bulb while cranking

How hard should the primer bulb go? I squeezed it maybe 50 times, it's not easy to squeeze now but should it go solid if it's a sealed system?

Just put a new battery on it, purchased a code reader as well. Still not starting but I have some fault codes now. 4 in total

P1589
P0344
P1351 again and again after trying to start and a rescan. Any ideas?

You need to see live readings not codes

You need 3 things other than the key being recognised which we have confirmed for now

1 cranking speed of 250rpm minimum
2 fuel pressure of 120 bar minimum more likely to be around 250-300 though
3 and the most important one really cam and crank syncronisation MUST be yes

If all the above are within what i posted then it should fire if any of the 3 are not it will not go but if readings are just a little low but otherwise correct then a towstart would be the best option.

If I purchase a PP2000 diagnostic kit from eBay would this give us the readings we need?

I borrowed a diagnostic software off a friend and got some more info. Tried starting it a few times and scanning codes each time as well. Attached some pictures screenshot from videos of live readings and dtc’s. Do these readings look normal? Also I have more codes now than before?
