1.5hdi DV5 - Camshaft chain problem?

Hello, I recently came across an article from a French journalistic publication, in which they describe a problem with the camshaft chain in these engines. They even show where the problem is and how to solve it. There are also part numbers which are defective and which do not cause problems. Has anyone had such problems? Have you heard of this defect? Do you think there could be a service campaign?

I hear you loud & clear, but how long do you hold on, are we not driving a ticking time bomb with these BlueHDi 1.5 diesel engines with regard to these chains giving way at any time? I'm still struggling to find which main dealers are going to front these changes, and will they be bombarded with cars looking to see if they can get this upgrade.

From another owner whom said this below.

Johnny Roper
As it’s a Stellantis issued recall it will be all dealers.
Given the numbers of engines out there it is likely the dealers will be busy, I personally don’t think it’s right you should absorb the cost if it’s going to be recalled at some point. I have read that people should keep receipts for chain replacement so they can claim back. Whether they would reimburse if it’s changed as precaution rather than if there’s an issue I don’t know.

maybe speak to local dealer and ask if there’s is anything on their system yet?

Currently done 100.000 miles on a secondhand engine using only 0-20 oil, I really don't want to change to 5-30 as my last engine was full of sludge and a valve snapped. The chain was fine don't now how many miles engine had done before it was fitted.
I'm thinking if you drive it hard use 5-30 if you creep around on low revs use 0-20 100,000 miles tells me its not a bad policy, not hearing any rattles as yet but should be anytime now.

Had my recall letter, booked in with local dealer all checked out ok.
unfortunately i had replace 7mm kit with 8mm a few months back due to the death rattle.
Dealer did a software update and when pushed a oil and filter change FOC as per recall letter
Car feels slow to pickup speed first thing in morning like its lacking boost.

First of all make sure that you don't already have an 8mm chain already fitted. There is a way to identify whether that is the case by looking at the shape of the cam cover. Unfortunately I don't have a link for that to hand.
