1.5 BlueHdi advice (thinking of buying)

If I remember correctly, the 7mm chain affects cars up to and including OPR 15757. I only know because my 308 is 15767, so just into the 8mm chains! I have never checked for certain however, as you can apparently tell by looking at the top of the chain cover. If there is a little hump, that should be the upgraded chain, if it is smooth, it should be the 7mm... You have to look under the felt engine matting to see it.

I think the only completely concrete way to know is from the OPR as dates can be flexible and VIN and engine codes are too general. You'd really need to see the actual TSB. You could just ask the garage of course since I guess they have your engine taken apart right now?

Just had a look in ServiceBox and it's worth noting that TSB B1AW0144Q0 has been updated since that Argus article and now covers EURO 6.2 engines and OPRs up to 16093 😢

TSB is attached. Apologies for rubbish formatting and no photos, my browser didn't save the page down properly... 🤷‍♂️

If you get a servicebox account you could buy a 1hr documentation token, input your VIN and see if the TSB is returned in the repair guides list under the 'Timing' section of engine docs... I guess it won't be if your engine isn't affected.

You're welcome. SB is not the friendliest site to use but you'll manage. You can just sign up as any generic motor trade, it doesn't make a difference. You also don't need to put your actual address details in, including for when you pay for access. Just a valid payment card!

I presume so yes, unfortunately! Best way to confirm of course is just to get the garage to show you your engine and check the part number.

The general opinion seems to be that PSA will pay to repair this issue, but there may be conditions like age, mileage and service history. You'll justy have to see what they say!

I think it might actually be up to 150k KM or 5 years. They will be picky on the service history though, so it will help enormously if the car has been serviced by Vauxhall themselves. If not, be prepared to need to provide them with some very specific info about each non-dealer service.
