brother in laws car 7 miles away. The fan was flattening the battery his garage disconnected the fan. Not good on hot weather. My sun is a postman they have had lots of Peugot vans with same problem some time ago, he mentioned mirrors in our conversation yesterday. The mechanic fixed the fleet of vans all doing the same thing.
Is there a known issue with the fan coming on and is there a easy fix.

Not Thermostat as this runs battery flat. It is somewhere amongst Sensors, software, corruption, and may be to do with dpf.

If your saying the fan runs the battery flat with the car turned off, then my best guess it's that a relay is stuck from looking at the haynes manual electrical diagrams.
14 is the fan. Tracing back you come to 2 soleniods. The only way I can see the power to the fan being on all the time is that the relay is stuck in the hot position.


They are contained in 11. The cooling fan control unit. You will have to trace wiring backwards from the fan to find it. I cant find a picture of it in the manual.
Should be relatively easy to test these relays and see if one of them is hot when car is off with a multimeter. Then replace it or whole unit (or whole car )via a scrappy or ebay etc...

muscleriot thanks for diagram i will pop this in his folder.
I took the car for a 30 mile round trip a couple of weeks ago got stuck in a bit of traffic. The temp did not go above normal. This is a old car and worth very little but no rust so worth trying to keep roadworthy. I think the radiator is managing to cool eng ok. What his garage have disconnected I'm not sure without having the car here for the day.
It also has a oil level sensor problem saying low when OK than should be easy fix or just ignore it. Not my way but... I changed oil and filter recently as service light was coming on Now ok after reset.
All in all. A high revving, in need of valve stem seals, no oil leaks from head gasket, sensors looking dodgy, elderly like owner, if it were a person it would be in a care home, sort of car. It uses oil.
Good bodywork, brakes etc and went through MOT at garage who disconnected the fan and who supplied car quite recently . So it has a few friends

The Royal Mail vans with this problem mentioned above were sorted out by fitting new drivers door mirror. No not a joke. The Ambient temperature sensor is below the mirror and constant opening and closing of door created a wiring short which was picked up by the ECU and this somehow put the fan on.
In the good ol days the fan was on all the time controlled by the dynamo belt. Whats a dynamo....I have re-brushed a few .....some time ago.
