In the 206 owners manual for this engine it states in bold 'do NOT use synthetic based oils for this engine'

Peugeot dealership seemed unaware of this and recommended semi syn 10/40W

Whats the correct stuff to use?

I am sure I read on here something about this little engine runs hotter than most soo needs a mineral oil. Cant find where I found this from again?

Cooler than most , not very often hitting the 90 mark and i can tell you because i cover 1000 miles from mon to fri.

It can use semi or full. They don't run hotter than normal. Synthetic is far more stable and has a longer life at high temps than mineral.

If you want synthetic, just tell your dealer when you take it in. Provided the semi is of the correct spec then it is perfectly adequate for the normal duty cycle.
