as many horror stories as I’ve heard, my 1.2 308 has been here a year now and haven’t had any issues, I’m considering a stage 1 remap although it’s no mega increase to the power, is it possible I’m risking a big problem with these wet belt issues ?

Belt should be changed for a quality one and system cleaned of eventual debris regardless of remap. Don't se how remap could have any significant effect on a belt.
