Hi all

I'm letting the rush die down and hope to put in an order for a 3008 in the next month or so. It has to be a petrol auto.

Having heard nothing but good things about the 1.2 auto I'm erring towards this. However, I do go on motorways fairly regularly so want a car that will cruise nicely at 70 and cant help thinking that a 1.2 may be high revving and loud. Are any current owners able to advise?

TIA

I think you'd really need to judge for yourself. I found it very buzzy and loud, but I am used to cars that have bigger engines and are better acoustically dampened I reckon. Compared to what you drive currently it may be whisper quiet :D

This was my worry and when i test drove one i thought just that. Round town it seemed fine but at speed it seemed to be straining a bit which is why i went for the 1.6 petrol. But i suppose it`s different for each and everyone of us as none of us will drive the same style.

Pick it up in 9 days :)

I have test driven the 1.2.petrol auto 4 times now, (while I wait for mine) and as my dealer is close to the M6 I have been able to take it on the motorway each time. I currently drive a 1.6dci Qashqai CVT and at the time my husband had a 2.5dci Pathfinder and we were both more than impressed with the acceleration, how the car handled and how quiet it was at a steady 70-75mph.

Obviously as someone has already said, we all drive differently and we all have different opinions so perhaps it might be worth test driving one on the motorway for yourself, if possible.

I cant believe how good this 1.2 is I even phoned my dealer when I got home after picking it up to make sure it was the 1.2 and not the 1.6 mines mated with the auto box its got a nice sound to it and i'm sure its more powerful than my old C3 Picasso that had a 1600 engine.

Usual caveat will all drive differently blah blah

Going back 20 years that was the way of thinking regarding engine size.... the bigger engines could cope with more miles, but is that still the case now technology has moved on? I honestly don't know. I guess if your going to do 100000+ miles maybe it'll tell, but I'll be keeping mine 3-5 years and I'll do a max of 40000 in that time so not an issue to me anyway.

For 5 years and up until 200 000km it will last, no longer than that, haven't found any engineer who would disagree with that

I get the 200000km bit but where do you get the 5 years from? After 5 years I'll have done 40000 miles- I'm pretty sure the engine will still be fine.

I also test drive 1.2 petrol GT Line 3008, it seems very low noise. Very low tyre or wind noise. I couldn't unfortunately measure db level even though i had a tester. I drove upto 150km/h it was fine. Gradual smooth acceleration. should be more than adequate if you drive mostly in flat terrain. I don't know how it will perform on hilly condition with full load, which I couldn't tested.
