Default Urgent. Oil leaking from rear of engine. Any ideas where it could be coming from?

Hi
I have an 07 expert van with the 2.0 hdi engine which has just acquired an oil leak which is coming from the rear of the engine. The problem i have is actually seeing where it is coming from as there is not enough room to get a good look at it. Can anyone point out any common problems with oil leaks on the engine rear? or what is at the rear of the engine that could be possibly leaking please?

the turbo is at the back, so it could be the banjo, feed or return turbo coolant pipes...other than that or the sump plug which is at the bottom and facing the back, i cant think of anything else. how much oil? how does it smell? does it drip when the engine isn't running?

Hi cheers for the reply
The van drives great with no smells and the amount of oil its using is just minimal at the moment but i'm a bit concerned it becomes worse quickly.
If i park the van up on a night there is a few slight oil drips on the drive. The sump plug seems to be dry, so it looking like one of the other 2 you have suggested.
The oil seems to be coming more from the drivers side of the vehicle if that helps any MightyMision

hi! no worries, all i can do is blindly offer thoughts, the engine sits more over the drivers side, with the gearbox to the left(ruling out driveshaft seals).

Which would then make me think that it could be the banjo bolt/ EGR or the breather pipe as even if the turbo is beginning to let go, it will cake up the inlet and exhaust piping rather than leaking out the exhaust manifold or downpipe.

Best bet is to get under it with a torch and have a nose about really

Hi
Sorry about the late reply
It seems to be coming out from the steering rack, where the steering column fits into the rack. Does anyone know if there is a seal at this point?
