Unhappy Smoke coming from oil cap on back of engine

I have a Expert 1.9d 55 plate, we had a new clutch fitted about a week ago, so far so good. Then this morning when we started her up she was making a rattling/popping sound from the bottom of the engine on tick over, but when we revved her the sound stopped then as the engine warmed up it seemed to stop. But sometimes when driving along the revs would die slightly. Then on the way home we stopped at the shop and we could smell smoke and on lifting the bonnet it appeared smoke was coming from the back of the black plastic cover on top of the engine, and when we removed the back oil cap smoke was coming from that and there was oil on the back of the engine and road, but only a small amount. She as done 62,000 miles but as not yet had the cambelt replaced, and the exhaust fumes are clear. She starts first time on the turn of the key. There is a slight oil leak on the rocker cover gasket. Thanks in advance if you can help

I had the same problem and as you said it was the rocker gasket at the back of the block that is leaking it started small but eventually ended up spraying most of the bulkhead with oil and the smell of oil enters the cabin hope that helps
