Default Rear Brake Shoes and Brake Compensator

Hya all again.

Ive posted a number of times on here, and had really good info feedback, many thanks.

Not a problem as such, but I'm slowly finding my way around my vehicle, routine checks ect.

Took a look at the rear brake shoes, but after looking in the Haynes manual, which wasn't very informative, how are / do i remove the shoes from the bottom pivot joint. Its studded from the inside, and on the wheel side, it looks as if there are black plastic caps covering something !!!!!

Also there is a brake compensator at the rear, how does this work ? is it maintainable, serviceable, if so, how ?

Partner Van -1.9 Year 2000- DW- Non PAS - Non AC.

Many thanks.

Ebbes.

There is a spring on the bottom holding the shoes together. Use a screwdriver to prise them out.
All you have to do with the compensator is make sure the little flap on it is moving. just oil it.

Hya David, thanks again for info REF brakes, to be honest when i spotted the Compensator, i was lying underneath the Van, looking up, and could only see the various brake pipes leading to it. Is the "Flap" in between the Compensator, and the underside of the vehicle ?

Many thanks

Ebbes.
