Default poss fuel filter

Got a 59 Hdi and tonight when I pulled away it was powerless. Wouldn't go over 20 miles per hour. Didn't go in to eco mode. Then it went fine. But got to lights and would cut out. Start engine it would be fine. Driving at 40 is fine no smoke and no smoke when idle. When I try and rev it when just starting its got no responce till the revs get high and I pull off

Had a prob like this in past where van would cut out as driving turned out to be fuel filter. Could it be this again. Any ideas cheers

Think it's 1.6 not sure of nip. But just been out to it. Started engine and running rough but when tried to rev engine nothing was happening. It's like the pedal isn't connected
