Default Partner '53 1.9 diesel ( dw8(b) engine)

Car in question is my mothers. I've just got ot running after a non start issue caused by inlet valve clearances.

Car now starts first turn, without any cranking over. No smoke all seems fine until I drive it. When you find out it has no guts.

My mother said it has always been slow, but for me its unacceptable. I remember my dads old Ford esort 1.8 diesel had loads of pull at low revs. The peugeot seems really poor.

On readin around, they doe seem to be reported as gutless, acan somebody confirm this. Or better still, if yor near liverpool / ormskirk we could compare.

I need to decide whether to continue with re-comissioning the car either for sale or for use by my sister. It will need a clutch ( or cable at least ) new front discs. The to be safe I guess new timing belt / water pump and pulleys as I've had the belt on and off to do the valve clearances.

So, I guess I could be looking at best part of 150 quid for parts alone just to find out the engine is toast after all.

Any fault codes could be an air issue.

Haven't checked for code, as there is no CEL.

Does say "ECO-MOD" on the small display?

I'll have a look at Vac lines when I take a look next.

Was going to plug the EGR line too.
