Default 1.6 HDI Engine knocking

Just purchased a 2007 Expert Van with 1.6 hdi engine. It has a light knock from top of engine, and turbo boost pipe is disconnected. When I reconnect pipe, the engine nearly stalls. Have plugged it in and says MAF sensor fault. Could this cause knocking or should I start looking elswhere.

Take it back to the dodgy dude you bought it from and ask him why the pipe is disconnected?

To put it bluntly its scrap! Notorious for turbos and unreliability. Sounds like the damage is terminal.
