Default Reaching out to Advertisers?

Now then all!

I'd hate to constantly compare this place to the Astra Forums (I like it here better) but they have some canny good deals on. For example for club members they have a decent offer for EuroCarParts, Vauxhall Dealers around the UK, DTUK (I think the owner of DTUK owns the forums) and a few other cool stuff like a detailing company & a specialised in-car entertainment company.

Since PF is free, it would bring in more members, and I would think it'd be a good idea for those in charge to get in touch with these companies and see if they can offer a discount for members.

Any good?

How do we get Yung to read this thread then? He can make some serious cash!

Companies pay other forums around 250 a year to have a section of the forums to post up offers. If Pug Forums did that, they can take advantage of the fact that all members can sign up for free (so that's more people seeing the site advertisements) in order to take advantage of the offers that these companies have paid to post up.

So, say 10 companies signed up, paid 250 each, there is 2,500 straight up. That's not where the money comes from though. The money comes from the advertising. Someone who knows how much the advertising brings in, needs to double/triple/quadruple it as the activity on this site would drastically increase. Then maybe, just maybe, when there are enough decent offers to cover it, charge a small fee for members in order to filter out the dedicated.

I paid 12 to join a forum very recently. I got 75 off my insurance premium as a result. Everybody wins.

But the member charge would have to come in after the sponsor companies have established themselves here. Can't charge people for the "Lack of a privilege" can you??!

He's in charge of this site. If he likes the idea, he can make things happen.

he could but its a company that hosts this site and deals with adverts...if he was to do this the site hosts could shut it down and we'll have the same issues as 407 owners...ill send him a shout and see what he reckon...wont harm to ask him

I'd sooner it was the opposite - id rather lay a modest annual subscription in order to see a site devoid of advertising. A firm selling wooden dash trim kits for a Chevy impala is of zip interest or relevance to me.

You're on a different line to me here like mate.

I joined the Astra Owners Network, which turned out to be a proper owners club. Adrian Flux insurance gave me 75 off straight away as a result. I only paid 12 to join the forums.

That's the kind of deal I think Peugeot Forums could easily snatch. Everybody makes money. The forums get money from members, the members get a discount, and the companies get a guaranteed custom through good offers.

Obviously it would be good strategy to source the companies first, and then when 5 or 6 companies have joined the forums and put their offers up, only then would it be wise to start charging members
