Default Van doesn't start very well when warm

So I have a Peugeot Partner 2010 1.6hdi. It's done 135000 miles and been serviced very well.
However over the past couple of months I have been having an issue where the van starts perfect first time but through the course of the day it takes upto 10 to 15 cranks to start. Sometimes I have had so stop and start again and it will start.
I have had changed the fuel filter and the crank shaft sensor, this hasn't fixed the issue.
Just to add to the problem over the weekend I ran out of diesel even though I had a 1/3 of a tank according to the gauge.
Not sure if these problems are linked.
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance

Could be faulty diesel temperature sensor. Planet diagnostic will tell more.
