Depends on the year(s) - I hear the brand new focus is something a bit special. I turned down a 307sw recently (but I admit that was 99% because I wanted a 407 and 1% because it was the uber-common silver colour - nothing to do with the car itself) but never been in a 308 so don't know how they differ.

Hyundai and Kia are both making some seriously good cars nowadays - can't speak specifically to those listed but it's no longer a case of "kia? not a chance, next?" like it used to be....

if i can make one change to that...Ford Focus 1.8TDCI (due to fact it does not have a DPF) mind you, from what I hear the pre-2007 model of the 1.6tdci the DPF presence is random...same on the 2.0L and I turn around 62mpg on a long motorway run with a 1.8tdci and the 1.6tdci has same/similar specs

I would think about the others, ive had Peugeot in past and not a major complaint really...Kia seem to be stepping up to the big boys nowadays. Hyundai...jap so not too bad build quality but never really looked into those.

Would of been the 2.0L TDCI mate. the 1.8TDCI only has 5 forward gears. kinda wierd being the 1.6TDCI has 5 forward and the 2.0TDCI has 6 Forward. you would of thought they would push it on the 1.8 to 6. (unless you mean 5 forward and 1 reverse = 6) i kinda overthink things lol

It has the same gearbox as the old escort...apparently agricultural use aswell.

But yeah even still the perfomance is shocking at times and even scares some of the more expensive car drivers.

Engine is bullet proof as they say...from what i hear the 1.6 and 2.0 is peugeot based.

For my next car im looking at new fiesta/Focus/mondeo/Kuga or a mitsibushi lancer...havnt decided yet.

I currently drive a Lancer diesel 2.0 VW 138 TDI engine , It is a noisy oil guzzling , tyre eating heap !!

My 407 has 85000 miles more on it and it is still better by far !!
