Default uk.gov car tax checker thingy

Hi all, I recently paid for 6 months extra car tax to start 01.11.14. However the website still says my car is taxed only until 31.10.14.

Does it take a few days to change to the new end date, or does it wait until your old 6 months has run out first before updating itself?

Never really bothered to look before, but as I now don't get a tax disc I just wanted to make sure I'm on the system

Probably will depend on HOW you tax it if online it should show up quick if at post office might take a few days as it probably gets done in batches like insurance MID updates.

The system sounds like it will be a pain in the backside....

Right, I checked this morning and I've now been updated to 1 May 2015, so that was two days to update. Just as well I did it early and not on the last day

Yes reminders will still be sent out, but not if a direct debit is set up as they will continue to charge that unless you tell them otherwise or cancel the dd with your bank.
