Default Top Gear

I have been watching it since the 80s when William Woollard presented it, when it was more of a car review and advice show. I have pretty much enjoyed the new format also with the larking about. However does anyone else think its got too stupid in the last couple of series? They could also do a bit more about normal cars that people actually buy rather than million bhp cars that cost more than you will earn in your entire life.

I have just watched tonight's with the caravanning. I my opinion it's too stupid to be funny and smashing new cars is actually quite annoying.

Shame cause I used to really enjoy it.

Rant over....

oh im on the other side of the fence. I loved it...especially the mazda "auto stop" when he tested it on james' car

mind I nearly creamed at the new lambo..that's just sheer porn that car.

I cringed when they mocked the 3008, saying it can only tow 500kg as its a hybrid. I was thinking "those on the forum will be cracking up on that one"

Well they were partially correct, according to my handbook the 3008 Hybrid4 can only tow 500Kg unbraked or 700Kg braked but I think the "normal" 3008 can tow 1300Kg. So don't buy a Hybrid4 if you are thinking of towing a caravan

I'm not sure why they hate caravans so much. Fair enough, some drivers do drive like Miss Daisy when there is no need. I have done a bit of caravanning and although you can't drive as fast as normal, you don't have to dawdle either and if you are holding traffic up, pull over asap and let them pass.

I did have a race once with a caravan on the back of my old Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 130 which pulled like buggery, against Saxo 1.1 driven by a teenager old off the lights and I actually beat him. The teenagers face was a picture.

This one has been the worst and weakest so far. The dogging references just weren't funny last night, and smashing a caravan? Again? Yawn.

The one with the hovercraft was no better. Heavily scripted and the use of lots of paid extras to play people who were getting soaked.

It seems to me like its just a televised Red Letter Day for three old men to have fun in sports cars.

I do love the races and the specials but I guess it's hard to do something new and different all the time.
