Default Tanzanian Safari

Just returned from a week on a safari in Tanzania. Virtually all the off road safari vehicles are Toyota Land Cruisers - the old style - that have been locally converted to seat up to 6 with an elevating roof for game viewing. Very few Land Rover Defenders also seen. Our driver told us that Mitsubishi are trying to muscle in. I did see one Mark 1 Range Rover in Arusha but out in the parks it is Toyota or Land Rover rules. All diesel of course. The Toyotas have two fuel tanks holding 85 litres each as once out of Arusha going to Serengeti and Ngorongoro there are very few fuel stations at all and to get to our game lodge in the Serengeti took most of the daylight hours off tarmac. Ngorongoro is very cold this time of year as 4000 feet up and more. Brilliant game viewing though seeing the Big Five including two of the ten rhinos in Ngorongoro within a couple of hours. Brilliant view of Kilimanjaro above the clouds as we flew past.
