Default Recommdations please

Just finished 'The Hobbit' - took me years to get round to reading it, but the film tweaked my interest.

Looking for something else now - not a thriller or horror - more fantasy or sci fi - and not called Haynes.......

Any 1 recommend a good read

The obvious choice would be the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Other good reads in the fantasy genre are Legend by David Eddings as well as his other series The Belgariad then The Mallorean. These have a similar story line with the time line approximately similar with magical heroes and villains.

Other books I found interesting were

The man who broke into Auswitch
The Book Thief
The Warsaw Anagrams
Arctic Chill

Thanks storeman. I just noticed that 'The Book Thief' has been made into a movie.

I'll purchase a copy of 'The Redemption of Althalus' - if it presses all the right buttons, might dive into the other series.

To be honest wasn't too impressed with 'The Hobbit'. It's also fair to say that the film is loosely based on the book. In the book for example, the Elves are made out to be gibbering idiots, prancing around and singing all the time.
