Default problem not fixed.....do i pay??

hi,i had a problem with my 206 1.1 2002 turning over but not starting,i had it towed to a garage, where they said it was an immobiliser fault, but couldnt read into the fault, so said i would need bsu, ecu, transponder board, ignition barrel with key. So they went ahead and ordered a second hand part, fitted it,and still havent fixed the problem, he did say he would carry on looking and the moment im not accuring anymore costs unless something else needs replacing. Do i really have to pay for the items that didnt fix the problem???? although he did say my lights and wipers are now working. Any advice would be great, as this could end up being realy costly........ vicky

Difficult one and must be a case of contract law.

Depends I think on how they put their 'offer'. If they used language like " it might be ", " we could try this, do you want to ?" They could argue they were just doing what you specified and have completed their end of the 'contract'

I would question if the parts are faulty and get them to attempt to send them back ?

I take it it's not a Peugeot dealership. The offer to keep checking without further cost apart from parts is ok, but i suspect they don't have the ability to really diagnose the problem and will keep swapping parts until it's fixed or your broke.

Talk to them, if they are insisting you pay, you could offer half (claim the risk was shared equally) and get a Peugeot specialist to pick it up and fix.

Lights and wipers are only working because fresh BSI has not went to sleep yet

They think they have fixed a problem that was not a problem sounds like your typical garage no comms so ecu MUST BE fekked it rarely is its nearly always a wiring issue.
