Default Outlook Mail problem

For a little while now I've had a problem with accessing my Outlook Mail directly.

I had the link saved to my Favourites bar but every time I clicked on it I got a message saying access was denied due to a 'certificate error' or similar depending whether I tried using Firefox/Edge/IE.

I read several reports on the web. The fixes included changing several things in settings.

I did not want to mess around with that as getting my messages worked fine if I used the Windows 10 app in the Task Bar and it also worked on my phone and tablets.

Thinking about it I reckoned that the old link I had in 'Favourites' was out of date so I went into Outlook using the search engine.

A couple of links came up with the same address I had stored and I got the same message.

The third one though put me directly onto Outlook.com and when I logged in everything was there. I've now saved that address to my 'Favourites Bar' and it has a new logo. The link works perfectly.

So; if you're having a problem with Outlook Mail then you may just need to save the new link rather than risking messing around in the settings.

Tip: Make sure the link you choose is directly to Outlook and not via a third party website.

I found that, as I progressed from 7, 8 to 10, Outlook became more troublesome and less compatible with many email clients. Result was I moved to Thunderbird - no more problems

Windows generally is become less user-friendly. And I was astounded when I saw they're advertising their products in file explorer!

I used to have various Linux distros running, but often I found it wouldn't support many mainstream software packages.

Google's a bit of a nightmare currently because of the dispute with Oracle over the Java platform.
