I'm in the same boat but I've got a 42 plasma, thinking of led as we just got the youngest son a lively 32" led bush tv for his bedroom and well impressed

Not sent from a crappy iphone using autoguide app (free version obviously)

I want to stick to 42" because it looks right in our living room , don`t want a bigger TV because i think a TV to big for the room looks stupid .

Was thinking down the lines of this -
Buy Panasonic 42 Inch Full HD 1080p Freeview HD Smart LED TV at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Televisions.

take a look at toshiba bud youll get a better spec for the same sort of cash..when looking at the smart tv ya want led of course most are but watch out for wifi enabled as alot of the lower spec tvs you have to buy a seperate dongle and have it plugged into the tv look for built in wifi also check what ya can get on the wifi too some dont offer things like facebook utube ect.or you could go for a lower spec tv and get the toshiba blueray player i picked up one for 70 built in wifi facebook and utube enabled bloody good blueray.:i love tv shopping already bought a tosh 42inch led but no wifi .wife wouldnt let me get new tv so had to go for a new blueray instead lol

nah i mean i CANT see in 3d
anyway there busy developing these tv's for use without the glasses, so im gonna wait and see what happen's.

As for screen size i understand exactly what you mean, when i bought this plasma the man in dixon's said for optimum viewing on a 42" pasma you need to be sat 16ft away from the screen......................Guess how far my chair is from the tv ???????????Yep corect

Whilst looking we were advised that switching from plasma to led meant we could probably step up to 46" screen and the actual size of the tv cabinet would stay the same.

If we stay with 42" and change to led the actual tv size will be smaller, but not convinced yet

I got a Phillips plasma in the lounge it weighs a ton and looks very big then i upgraded to this in the bedroom which is 46"and looks very small compared, it is a Samsung 46" led hd smart tv i think i got it on clearance for 600 and i wouldn't have anything else!! It is so light its unreal.

I didn't get any glasses with it which were 80 quid for 2
And it had no dvd player so i got this on clearance too.

120 3d blu ray and smart player so a bargain at the time.
The Samsung tv and player work well together and you can out ahdd on the tv to play films or record live tv.
The thing is tho if you have a crap download speed ya goosed i have 3meg so its useless!

There will no doubt be deals on in the sales and its down to your own needs really, you should get a decent tv for 500.
Also Sony are doing a big sale.
