Default Movie - John Carter

This is a mix of The Time Machine; Avatar (the aliens in this are green not blue) and Star Wars.

I suppose it's best described as a 'sci fi romance' - mercifully the romance element is fairly limited.

Lots of bizarre looking aliens and a nice 'twist' at the end.

I give this 6/10 - it would have been 7/10 but the movie is a tad too long.

Watched John Carter last night, and it was very enjoyable.
Lucas and Cameron were all influenced by Edgar Rice Burroughs, who wrote the original novels a 100 years ago. So, when you think Star Wars, Avatar etc, this story predates them, with only H G Wells and Jules Verne really before him. He is also famous for a certain character called Tarzan.
