Default Computer help needed

We have a gemini 7" (GEM7100)tablet bought for xmas that has stopped working, wont switch on screen is blank even when trying to charge. we have been onto gemini to arrange repair and they say we should perform a factory restore before sending it back as only hardware is covered etc etc, now these are the instructions from there website for a reset but

A: seems complicated
B: will it work as the machine won't switch on

Any of you techies got any thoughts ???

Does it show any indication that its even charging?

If not and it uses a USB connection to charge, try it on another charger

I've had it where a tablet has been left on standby and completely croaked it, took about half an hour on the charger for it to even acknowledge it was on charge and boot up again!

With my limited techie knowledge, don't see how that will work if machine will not power up. I did hear of something about making sure unit is well charged and then switch on by holding power button AND volume up button in for up to 30 seconds.......

By the way I think I have solved my Sedre problems. There were fragments of files kicking about from my failed attempt at downloading. I will let you know how I go, installing again as we type !

It's possible that the battery is fully charged but the firmware or the android system has been corrupted causing the device to appear dead. Following the restore procedure and switching it on may make the boot routine in the ROM load from the SD card and restore the firmware / Android system bringing it back to life.

The restore procedure really isn't as difficult as it may appear. You have nothing to lose by trying this and if it fails you have the warranty to hopefully fall back on.

Well at least you are no worse off and now you have tried the factory reset as suggested by the Gemini people you can ask for an RTM and send it back for repair / replacement.
