Default Car Insurance Winge

I'm 45, had a clean licence since passing my test 22 years ago and have 13 years NCB. I live in SR3 postcode.

Just had a quote from Shiela's Wheels for my PUG 206 GTi 140 459 Fully Comp.
Comparethemarket 210 plus shrapnel Fully comp.

The above policies to start 12th Jan 2018.

Now.

Policy start date 18th Dec 2017 PUG 206 GTi 140 285 Fully Comp Comparethemarket

Why is xmas such an expensive month to insure a car?

Older than you but found Tesco Insurane competitive

Churchill can be okay sometimes not often on comparison sites

Have noticed this before ,its nothing really to do with christmas its to do with how soon you want the policy to start,
For instance if you go online and get quotes for insurance to start say tomorrow they will be a lot dearer than if you ask for the policy to start in say 2 weeks time or 4 weeks time..

its like they know you must be desperate to get on the road and are just taking the proverbial id say

Perhaps the Christmas /new year period is a high accident risk time?.

Although in theory winter is a higher risk time due to longer darkness hours and crap weather that does not really explain quotes being higher !

Insurance is for a whole year so should not really mater when you get the quote.

Are you saying you had better quotes in the summer ?

I've had the exact same experience. For example, a quote in December is more expensive than a quote in February.. for the same car... the same details etc etc. Before you are wondering, I was the same age etc
