I have this one

AC-F600 Full HD Dash Cam with Night Vision and G-Sensor

Nice neat little unit at a very good price. The mount is huge, but so is the windscreen so it does fit just under the rear view mirror and peeks out around the light sensor.

I haven't got any pictures of it, and I've taken it out of the car to work the wiring out, I'll wire it down the headlining with the Bluetooth kit when the headlining goes back in; I noticed the blind wasn't working properly so the car has no headlining in at the moment and the blind is in bits. I'm not driving atm and am off school placement due to my back causing me serious pain, but once I'm better I'll post pics of the camera in the car so you can see

Keep us posted, I've toyed with the idea of a dashcam for a while

Ideally I'd want one that's ignition fed and records over the older data as it goes, that way I can just set it and forget it, so that ac-f600 looks the part!

I found an interesting read about someone who wrote code for a raspberry pi and used that, that intrigued me as I could hide the module in the headliner and just have a small camera attached to the back of the mirror

out of interest are there any insurance benefits for having a dashcam, or any insurer approved models?

There was one on Channel 5's gadget show a few weeks back.

It pops over the interior rear view mirror completely. The footage looked good and does front and rear footage with built in night mode.

Only prob with that is that it covers your auto dimming mirror if fitted, so then you have no mirror dipping function.

Yeah, mine has ignition feed and auto rewrite and most importantly, a G sensor which permanently saves footage of an accident. I put a cheap 16gb memory card in to save the data on, I can defiantly say that they are worth the money, 50 is a small amount of money to spend to protect yourself and your asset.

Re Insurance, my insurers don't provide a discount on my policy for having a camera, but some do. It's always worth a phone call

I too have a car cam. Not in the hopes of doing a Russian video explaining the laws and customs of driving in my adopted country.
I found some great info on this website/forum. Maybe to start off with choose a cheaper cam and see how you get on. There are some good value for money cams which can beat the higher priced ones.
